Enrollment Start Here

Enrollment at our school is by lottery, in accordance with California Education Code as it applies to Charter Schools and per our school’s enrollment policy which appears below. Each year we offer enrollment events and tours to learn more about our curriculum which is guided by the Core Principles of Public Waldorf Education.

​Enrollment Lottery Applications are given out at these events, as well as on this website. The Lottery will be held in March 2020 in the school Conference Room conducted by our school board President and Executive Director.

In order to be considered for enrollment in Kindergarten, students must turn 5 years old before December 2nd of the year enrolling. Students who turn 5 before May 31st attend one year of Kindergarten. Students who turn 5 between June 1 and December 2, attend two years of Kindergarten.

Enrollment Process:

  • Attend our annual Open House  (PARENTS ONLY). 
  • If applying for kindergarten, attend the Kindergarten Orientation meeting , (PARENTS ONLY).  This meeting will be held prior to the Open House in our Assembly Hall and provide you with an overview of our education and assist you in deciding whether Sebastopol Charter is the right choice for your child.
  • Attend an Enrollment Tour. PARENTS ONLY
  • Submitt Enrollment Lottery Application by filling out our Online 2019-20 Enrollment Lottery Application or by obtaining a paper copy at our school office or download the fillable 2019-20 Enrollment Lottery Application (PDF) and email rflug@sebastopolcharter.org or hand deliver to the school office.

Enrollment Admissions Policy

The lottery is held as required by law and according to our school's charter, with preference given in the following order:

1. Presently enrolled students
2. Children of school staff members
3. Siblings of currently enrolled students
4. Children who live in the Sebastopol Union School District (to check your district, go here: District Look-up) * see below for partial policy
5. All other students residing in California

An applicant will stay on the appropriate waiting list for the year for which you applied, after which time you need to submit another application for the following year if you are still interested in having your child at our school. We do not carry our waiting lists forward. Our open enrollment period is August 15, 2019 through March 6, 2020.

* In-District Residence Requirements Board Policy: The student's primary residence as of the date or their application AND as of the date of their submission of their completed enrollment packet lies within SUSD. The in-district residence has been the student's primary residence for at least one month prior to the admission lottery, or the family otherwise demonstrates an intention to continue long-term residency within SUSD. The student's family provides proof of residency by providing the school with two formal documents.

We also require families to be in compliance with SB277, a vaccination requirement for students (1) entering Kindergarten for the first time, (2) entering 7th grade, (3) transferring from out-of-state, or (4) who do not already have a PBE (personal belief exemption) on file with a California school as on December 31, 2015.
